The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, pays tribute to the leader and activist of the Afro-descendant revolution of the United States, Malcolm X , 54 years after his assassination.
The message was posted next to a video by the Head of State on Twitter’s digital network @NicolasMaduro .
The audiovisual highlights a speech by the American activist: “It is time for us to open our eyes (…) We do not need anyone else to speak for us; see for us, fight for us. ”
It also details the struggles that Malcolm X fought for the rights of the African-American people, and the constant denunciations of the crimes committed by white-skinned citizens.
On February 27, 1965, about 600 people attended the funeral ceremony in the Harlem neighborhood (north of Manhattan). The American activist was buried at Ferncliff Cemetery in Harstdale, New York City.
