The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) expressed its concern at the attack by the American destroyer USS Jason Dunham against the Venezuelan fishing vessel ‘Carmen Rosa’ while carrying out authorized activities in the Exclusive Economic Zone of Venezuela, describing the act as irresponsible and provocative.
“EI ALBA-TCP denounces this irresponsible and provocative act, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and threatens the peace, security and stability of our region,” read the organisation statement.
In this regard the Bolivarian Alliance demanded unrestricted compliance with international law enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and “full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

“The member countries of ALBA-TCP reaffirm its unwavering commitment to ensuring that the Latin American and Caribbean region remains a zone of peace, and demand that the United States immediately refrain from activities that threaten the peace and security of our region,” added the statement.
In turn, the member countries reaffirmed “their unwavering commitment to ensuring that the Latin American and Caribbean region remains a zone of peace and demand that the United States immediately refrain from carrying out activities that endanger the peace and security of our region.”
The bloc also expressed its “full solidarity with the attacked workers” and recognized “the work of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces, which firmly and with dignity protected their compatriots minute by minute, ratifying their unwavering commitment to the defense of sovereignty and to the peace of the region.”
This new incident in the eastern Caribbean waters demonstrates the escalation of military provocations by the United States against Venezuela, in a clear attempt to destabilize the peace and sovereignty of the Latin American peoples.
The statement issued this Sunday aligns with the declaration of the XIII Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of ALBA-TCP, in which the 10 member countries of the alliance rejected the military deployment of the United States in Latin America and the Caribbean, and ratified their support for the constitutional president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
ALBA-TCP is a bloc founded in 2004 and composed of Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Lucia.
