As Ayatollah Khamenei Warned, US Fuels Wars, Exploits ‘Allies’ and Discards Them

It is extremely rare in international relations for any political leader to so accurately and insightfully predict the behavior and hidden agendas of a self-proclaimed superpower.

Yet, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has repeatedly proven that his statements are grounded in wisdom and foresight.

In a recent speech, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the United States frequently pushes its “allies” into wars only to abandon them, leaving behind devastation and disillusionment.

His powerful remarks – labeling the Trump administration as “not worthy” of diplomacy and condemning Washington’s warmongering – have reignited a long-standing debate.

With the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, fueled by the US-led NATO alliance’s proxy war against Russia, his comments offer a sobering and realistic assessment of American foreign policy.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that claims about Tehran trying to reach out to Washington are “completely false.” He described the current US administration as unworthy of diplomacy and firmly rejected any possibility of talks with American leaders under the current circumstances.

His remarks extend beyond Ukraine, offering a broader critique of the destructive consequences of American military interventions in various regions, including Gaza and Lebanon.

“Wherever America has intervened, the outcome has been war, genocide, destruction, and displacement,” he asserted, providing a report card of the US military-industrial complex.

This view, he explained, does not come from speculation or guesswork. Rather, it has formed over many years of experiencing US sanctions, military provocations, covert interference, and ongoing regional wars, including the recent war imposed against the Islamic Republic in June.

His rejection of US claims is rooted in the long history of American political betrayal – from the final days of former Iranian dictator Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to the unprovoked and unjustified wars in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, and now, elsewhere.

A 28-point so-called “peace plan,” developed by Trump’s team, was proposed as a possible way to end the NATO-engineered Russia-Ukraine conflict. Although later revised to include additional elements, the plan has yet to bring a breakthrough for the warring parties and Ukraine’s allies.

Ayatollah Khamenei maintains that this plan reflects a familiar American pattern of double-dealing.

“America started the disastrous war in Ukraine, and it did not achieve any results. This current American president said that he would resolve the issue in three days; now, after a year, he is forcibly imposing a twenty-eight-article plan on the country that he himself brought into the war.”

Leader’s remarks embody wisdom. He views the US proposal – praised by some Western supporters – not as a sincere peace effort, but as a scheme imposed on both sides. In his view, the parties are being pressured to accept terms that serve Washington’s strategic interests rather than genuinely resolving the crisis Washington helped create.

Ayatollah Khamenei stresses that the United States creates the conditions for wars and then, in moments of real danger, “betrays its allies.” History, he says, proves this dangerous pattern.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the United States urged Ukraine to give up its nuclear weapons and trust American “assurances.” Years later, Ukraine was pushed into a war with Russia and then handed a surrender document. That’s how they treat their “allies.”

This history is not just idle talk but follows a clear pattern. From Saddam Hussein in the 1980s, who was pushed into war with Iran and then abandoned, to the Kurds forsaken in Iraq and Syria, to Afghan allies left desperate at Kabul’s airport, and now to Ukrainian civilians caught in a proxy war, the United States has repeatedly driven its so-called “partners” into danger before stepping back, offering only empty words, sanctions, and hastily crafted “new plans.”

The sudden push for the “28-point plan” is yet another example of this cycle: when one plan fails, Washington simply discards it and replaces it, even as its allies continue to suffer.

Ukraine is not an exception but one example in a broader pattern of disastrous American interventions worldwide. The message is clear: wherever the United States intervenes, chaos, suffering, and betrayal of allies follow.

Ayatollah Khamenei’s assessment extends beyond Iran’s relationship with the US. He reminds that every American military intervention leaves a trail of death, destruction, and displacement.

He maintains that the United States – not Russia – “sparked the Ukraine war,” pointing to American hypocrisy. Ukraine, he says, is just another example of how the US promises support but ultimately abandons and discards its “partners.”

So, his statements that the United States is “not worthy” of diplomacy, that its promises are “total lies,” and that “wherever America intervened, the outcome has been war, genocide, destruction, and displacement” are not claims or accusations.

They are honest observations drawn from decades of repeated patterns across the world.
