The Russian representation at the United Nations (UN) has also reaffirmed the need to totally and immediately renounce unilateral sanctions.
The permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations, ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy, condemned the accusations of the United States against the government of Venezuela because “they do not correspond to reality and hardly coincide with the conclusions and evaluations of the UN.”

In a virtual meeting with members of the Security Council, Polyanskiy said that the United States and the European Union are seriously compromising Venezuelan government’s efforts to combat Covid-19.
He added that they prefer to remain “comfortably insensitive” in the virtual reality where they help Venezuela, when the truth is that provocations and interference in internal affairs still persist.
Russia has previously voiced its rejection of US-imposed restrictions that are undermining states’ ability to counter the coronavirus pandemic.

Polyanskiy condemned the actions of the United States taken in contravention of Article 2.4 of the United Nations Charter that urges all members to refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.
