In the last 24 hours, 12 new cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Venezuela, for a total of 357 infections, reported the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez. She explained that of the total new cases, 2 were detected in the state of Zulia, 1 in Falcón, 3 in Aragua, 1 in La Guaira, 1 in Miranda, 1 in Anzoátegui and 3 in Nueva Esparta, with the latter locality registering the highest number of infections.
Likewise, she detailed that 112 patients are asymptomatic and represent a higher risk of contagion, so she insisted on the need to keep and respect social distancing measures, such as the use of face masks.
Rodriguez indicated that 73 patients have mild respiratory conditions, 3 have a moderate respiratory condition and there is one person in intensive care.
The figure of 10 deceased remains and a 44.3% recovery is reported. The vice president pointed out that Venezuela has carried out 482,953 tests, which represents 16,098 tests per million inhabitants, placing our country at the forefront of testing on the continent.

She added that the Venezuelan health authorities are applying all the epidemiological protocols recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) to migrants returning to the country.
Therefore, when a person enters the territory, a rapid screening test is done. In the case of Táchira, the compatriots remain fourteen days in a health center and before continuing the trip to their destination state, they undergo another test. Upon arrival at destination, a new screening should be performed.
Cases detected in the last 24 hours
She reported that to date, 25,861 Venezuelans have returned, mainly from Colombia, detecting 18 cases of coronavirus with the PCR test.
Rodríguez detailed the 12 new cases:
- 26-year-old woman who entered the Táchira state through the Simón Bolívar Bridge. She had presented symptoms and was transferred to a Comprehensive Diagnosis Center (CDI) in Coro, Falcón.
- 27-year-old woman from La Guaira, who entered Venezuela through Táchira, from Bogotá, Colombia. When she arrived at the care post in Los Caracas, the test was positive, but she is asymptomatic, so was placed in a sentinel hospital.
- 20-year-old man residing in the Anzoátegui state. He studied in Uruguay 2 years ago and arrived on a flight to Venezuela on April 20. He was treated at the Los Caracas post, La Guaira, where he tested negative. But upon reaching Anzoátegui, the PCR test came out positive. All the people with whom he could have contacted on his trips are being located.
- 50-year-old woman, collaborating nurse of the Cuban medical mission. Resided in Miranda and is asymptomatic. This is a case of community transmission.
- A 42-year-old man who had contact with a relative who works in the Nueva Esparta Coast Guard command, where 44 positive cases have been recorded to date. He explained that this hotspot was derived from the Pedro González Baseball Academy.
- A 12-year-old boy, a native of Bolívar state, but an athlete at the Nueva Esparta baseball school.
- 28-year-old man in Nueva Esparta, a Coast Guard official, also derived from the baseball school outbreak.
- Three cases of Aragua, a family. Those affected are a 45-year-old woman, her 49-year-old brother and a 52-year-old relative, who are street vendors on the Centro Regional Highway. These people reside in a house, where six families live. She indicated that it is a case that calls for reflection.
- A Wayúu couple who came from Colombia and entered the Zulia state, testing positive.

The Venezuelan vice president also referred to the failed US led mercenary attack on the coast of La Guaira and informed Venezuelans that the Ambassador of Netherlands was called to demand explanations on the use of the Aruba island for logistic assistance by the terrorists.
