Lenin Moreno has announced an State of Emergency after protests erupted all over Ecuador in rejection of the implementation of a neoliberal package, including lifting fuel subsidies, meaning a 130% rise in the price of gasoline.
Moreno’s tenure has plunged Ecuador into a deep economic crisis, aggravated for the last 2 years, dispite receiving an IMF loan of 4 billion dollars that many linked to the delivery of Julian Assange to UK authorities.

Dispite many attempts, Lenin Moreno has not been able to use the judiciary to get rid of Rafael Correa who recently has announced his decision to go back into the political race in Ecuador after what he calls the treason of Moreno.
