The people of Los Valles del Tuy, Miranda state, will be mobilized this Saturday in rejection of the recent attacks against monuments and cultural heritage by fascist groups supported by sectors of the opposition.
The information was made public by the president of the Brotherhood of the Blessed Sacrament of the Dancing Devils of Yare, Ernesto Herrera, in an interview with the newspaper Últimas Noticias, in which he denounced that vandalism groups burned the mask of the Dancing Devils of Yare and the letters of the Virgin of Santa Lucía del Tuy, in the Valles del Tuy subregion. Ernesto Herrera, president of the Brotherhood of the Blessed Sacrament of the Dancing Devils of Yare, said that the allegorical monument of the religious and cultural manifestation was declared by the Unesco in 2012 as Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The mask of the devils and the demonstration has become an icon of the Simón Bolívar municipality of Miranda state.
The mayor of the municipality Paz Castillo, Erik Lovera, denounced that a group opposed to the revolutionary government burned the acronym of Santa Lucia and violated the headquarters of the San Benito Cultural Complex, “a space enjoyed by many of the children of the violent. They wanted to do more damage, but fortunately we were able to stop these violent acts,” he revealed.
Demonstrations
The march of this Saturday will begin in the parish of San Francisco de Yare and will arrive at the place where the vandalism occurred. Herrera assured that the promeseros and all the Yarense people will unify efforts for the construction of a new allegorical monument to said cultural and religious tradition.
“We ask the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar to touch the hearts and consciences of those who committed these events so that they reconsider and publicly assume their error. They have to know the importance of the Blessed Sacrament and the Dancing Devils, whose apology is that good always triumphs over evil, “he said.
With regard to the attack against the Virgin of Santa Lucia, the mayor of the municipality Paz Castillo, Erik Lovera, in statements collected by the same newspaper lamented other acts of vandalism perpetrated by opposition groups on the night of Wednesday also in the vicinity of the Plaza Simón Bolivar, Plaza Miranda and the entrance of the town of Santa Lucia, also violated the headquarters of the San Benito Cultural Complex, denounced.
