* SAIME officer detained for charging US$ 2,500 to “issue” a passport

December 30, 2018

An official of the Administrative Service of Identification, Immigration and Aliens (Saime) [agency in charge of issuing passports and ID’s] was detained for extortion and bribery, when requesting two thousand 500 dollars to a citizen to obtain the passport.

This was reported by teleSUR correspondent Madeleine García through her Twitter account, sharing the image of the employee and a snapshot of the conversation that this worker had with a person who received the large amount in foreign currency for issuing said document.
