Citizens grouped under the movement of yellow vests, went to the streets of France on Saturday in its fifth weekend of protests to demand that the French government make a complete constitutional review.

The yellow vests call for the resignation of the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, by pointing out that his neoliberal policies have caused a decrease in the quality of life and spending power in the country.

A leader of the yellow jackets, Jacline Mouraud, said: “I do not know any house that has you standing without foundations, it is necessary that the Government take into account the demands and responds.” This administration “can still give in (in several aspects). There are more than 40 requirements that would give improvements in the tax burden that the French people need.”

Authorities report that the mobilization has been carried out – until now – with more calm than in previous days. Even so, eight thousand police agents were deployed, who have repressed the protests with violence.

The authorities again used tear gas and beatings against the members of the mobilization. So far, about 100 detainees have been reported, in addition to one deceased due to an accident due to blockage of the roads.

The spokeswoman of the prefecture, Johanna Primevert, reported that this protest has at least 35,000 protesters throughout the country. “It’s a weaker mobilization,” she said compared to the previous days. This, explain its organizers, is the result of the recent attack in Strasbourg [that conveniently happens after the most strong day of protest].

The Arc de Triomphe, the Pantheon, the Holy Chapel, the Notre-Dame towers, the Museum of the Concierge, the Expiatory Chapel, as well as the Royal Palace and its gardens, among other nearby buildings, are completely closed to the Champs Elysees, epicenter of the protests.

The demonstrations began on Saturday, November 17, due to the gas increase. But, despite getting President Macron to postpone the measure, the citizens decided to expand their demands.
