A video about the first strike on a small boat in the Caribbean Sea on September 2, as part of the US military Southern Spear operation, was presented by US military commanders to legislators at the US Congress, in a session that was reportedly held behind closed doors.
According to international media reports, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine and Special Operations Command Chief General Frank Bradley testified on Capitol Hill this Thursday, December 4. According to Connecticut Democratic Representative Jim Himes, the video shows two survivors of the attacks being, in his own words, killed while in a vulnerable state.
“What I saw in that room is one of the most disturbing things I have seen in my public career,” Himes said at a press conference after the session. “It concerns two individuals in a clear situation of danger, without any means of transportation, with a destroyed vessel, who are killed by the United States.”
Analysts in Venezuela claim that the uproar within the US empire about the double-strike execution cannot obscure that the entire operation, which murdered more than 80 unidentified civilians who posed no imminent threat to the US military, is also illegal under international law, and has been leveled as extrajudicial executions by United Nations experts.
Furthermore, he added that these “summary executions” occurred in two phases. The first bombing allegedly destroyed the boat under the pretext that it was being used for drug trafficking, while the second phase murdered the survivors. The video has not yet been made public; however, the incident has generated shock among the members of Congress and the Senate who attended the meeting.
Venezuela’s National Assembly to Investigate US Extrajudicial Killings in Caribbean (+Hegseth)
Himes statement
Jim Himes, a Democratic representative and a high-ranking member of the US House Intelligence Committee, explained that the assassination orders did not come from Commander Bradley, but directly from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, a fact that was confirmed in previous days by The Washington Post.
“Any US national who watches the video I watched will see the US military killing civilians,” he commented.
The attack captured in the video released by military leaders has generated bipartisan concern among lawmakers and prompted suggestions of an investigation. It is worth noting that this bombing was the first in a series of operations in the Caribbean that have already destroyed more than 20 ships and resulted in the murders of more than 80 people.
