It was a tragic Monday for the revolutionary processes in South America. On the same day, the political disqualifications of former presidents Evo Morales, from Bolivia, and Rafael Correa, from Ecuador, were confirmed as part of the political persecution against them. From Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro and Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza rejected the illegal attack.
The National Court of Justice of Ecuador rejected the request made by Correa’s defense to reconsider the sentence of 8 years in prison.
The former president was investigated and convicted of alleged bribery in the period between 2012 and 2016, in a procedure rigged by the authorities.
“The traitors are afraid of the will of the Ecuadorian people, which is why they have taken the desperate measure of preventing Brother Rafael Correa from participating in the presidential elections. Sooner rather than later, there will be justice. Strength, Rafael,” President Maduro wrote on his Twitter account.

Betrayed and hunted
After the April 7 sentence that Correa’s supporters have described as flawed, this Monday the disqualification was confirmed.
Correa was launching his candidacy as vice president for the 2021 elections, to retake the reins of the Citizen Revolution, betrayed by Lenin Moreno.
“They finally did it. In record time they issued a “final” sentence to disqualify me as a candidate. They don’t understand that all they do is increase our popular support. I’ll be fine. I extend all my solidarity to the persecuted there.” President Correa is currently living in Belgium. “Remember, the only thing they condemn us to is to win,” added the political leader.
Dictatorship clings
On the other hand, the dictatorship headed by Jeanine Añez in Bolivia made another illegal plot to disqualify Morales [as a] candidate for the Senate.
After the coup against him, [there was] the violent persecution that made him go into exile; now they attack him politically and judicially.
The Supreme Electoral Tribunal disabled his candidacy for the Upper House and it was ratified by the Second Constitutional Chamber, confirming the judicialization.
The general elections will be on October 18 after two extensions motivated by the tricks of the dictatorship to avoid consulting the people.
“On the same day, two powerful political and social options have been prosecuted: Evo Morales and Rafael Correa, they were disqualified. The oligarchies fear them too much. However, nothing will be able to prevent the next popular victories in Ecuador and Bolivia,” wrote Foreign Affairs Minister Arreaza.

Both countries are experiencing the darkest moments in this century due to neoliberal actions and betrayals of the popular will.
In the Ecuadorian case, due to the betrayal of Lenin Moreno, elected as the standard bearer of the Citizen Revolution, and in Bolivia due to a coup d’etat.
¡Hermano Evo!
