The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, in his capacity as commander-in-chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB), enacted the Law of the Command for the Integral Defense of the Nation, an initiative previously approved by the National Assembly.
The document was delivered to President Maduro in the Sol del PerĂş Hall of the Miraflores Palace, by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge RodrĂguez, on Tuesday, November 11. The law is aimed at deepening the civil-military doctrine in the country and safeguard peace and national sovereignty in a context of heightened US aggression.
The regulation strengthens the Venezuelann State’s comprehensive defense structure, integrating civilian and military capabilities to respond to threats in all areas. President Maduro also announced the activation of a higher phase of the Independence 200 people-military-police drills.
The objective of this exercise is to fine-tune in real time the capabilities for personnel deployment and deploying systems and weapons in all regions of the country.

“If BolĂvar was prepared for victory, so are we,” said President Nicolás Maduro. “We have truth and reason on our side … we are on the right side of history.”
“We defend the most sacred cause that has ever been defended. We follow our law, we are in our land, and nothing and no one should try to disturb our peace and tranquility,” he added.
The head of state emphasized that the Venezuelan people are peaceful, but “they are willing to fight for freedom and sovereignty.”
The enactment of the Law of the Command for the Integral Defense of the Nation represents a key institutional step in the consolidation of the legal framework for national security, in line with the doctrine of integral defense of the Venezuelan State and part of the co-responsibility for national defense.
