Incumbent candidate for the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) coalition, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, continues to lead in voter preferences for the July 28 presidential election, according to the latest survey by the polling firm Hinterlaces.
According to Hinterlaces, which carried out a national survey by sampling with respect to gender, age, locality, and socio-economic and educational levels, President Maduro leads voting intentions with 54.2%, far ahead of his closest contender, the candidate of the right-wing Unitary Platform (PUD), Edmundo González, who has 21.1% voter preference.
The survey, released on Thursday, July 4, also provides the voter preference figures for the rest of the candidates in the race for Miraflores Palace: Benjamin Rausseo 5.7%; Antonio Ecarri 2.9%; Claudio Fermin 2.4%, Daniel Ceballos 1.9%, Javier Bertucci 1.8%; JosĂ© Brito 1.2%; while Luis Eduardo MartĂnez and Enrique Márquez occupy the last positions in the presidential race with less than 1%.
Other questions of the survey
Regarding the perceptions of who will win the presidential elections, 56.7% of the participants said that Chavismo will sweep, while 23.2% said that it will be the opposition, and 20.1% chose the option Do not know/No response.

When asked the question, “How willing are you to go to vote,” 59% of the survey participants responded that they will vote, 9% responded that they will not vote, 14% chose the option “May be I will vote,” while 18% did not respond to the question.

Finally, in response to the question “With which political party do you sympathize the most,” 52.1% chose PSUV-GPP, 14.4% selected the Unitary Platform, and 15.2% expressed support for other opposition parties 15.2%. While 6.4% chose the option “Others,”, 12.9% opted for Do not know/No response.
