The Venezuelan deputy minister for anti-blockade policies, William Castillo, has condemned far-right presidential candidate Edmundo González’s violations of Venezuelan electoral law by unilaterally inviting the far-right Popular Party of Spain to the upcoming Venezuelan presidential elections, scheduled for July 28.
“Edmundo González Urrutia, managed by Machado, violates the Venezuelan Electoral Law again,” Castillo wrote via social media this Wednesday, July 17, “by unilaterally “inviting” his right-wing friends from the PP [Popular Party] of Spain to come to the presidential election without requesting the CNE [National Electoral Council] for the legal invitation that only this electoral body can issue.”

“This is open contempt and defiance of the country’s electoral authority,” he continued. “The drunkard’s way. The despair of a right-wing candidacy.”
Over 635 international observers have confirmed their participation in the upcoming electoral event, done through the regular channels of the cNE for their accreditation, according to Foreign Minister Yván Gil.
Among the organizations accredited by the CNE are the United Nations, the Carter Center, the Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America (CEELA), the African Union (AU), and numerous other renowned groups.
On Tuesday, the spokesman for the Spanish far-right Popular Party, Miguel Tellado, stated via social media that he will arrive in Venezuela on July 28 with a delegation to supposedly “show support” for the progress of the elections.
