Wednesday’s COVID-19 Report: 6 Deaths and 574 New Cases in Venezuela
This Wednesday Venezuelan Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez reported 574 new cases of coronavirus—550 by community transmission and 24 imported.
This was announced through Rodríguez’s Twitter account, where she detailed that Lara is the state with the highest number of infections with 98 active cases, throughout 8 of its 9 municipalities: Iribarren (53), Crespo (17), Palavecino (14), Jiménez (five), Andrés Eloy Blanco (four), Urdaneta (three), Morán (one) and Torres (one).
The rest of the infections in the national territory are distributed as follows: Capital District (92), Zulia (92), Mérida (71), Miranda (47), La Guaira (43), Yaracuy (28), Táchira (20), Trujillo (17), Falcón (16), Anzoátegui (11), Apure (five), Cojedes (two), Aragua (two), Portuguesa (two), Amazonas (one), Barinas (one), Delta Amacuro (one), and Sucre (one).
Regarding imported infections, Rodríguez specified that 23 of these individuals came from Mexico and one from Turks and Caicos, and that they all entered through La Guaira. Of these cases, 12 were female and 12 male, while two were minors.
In addition, she confirmed the unfortunate death of six Venezuelans due to COVID-19: two men aged 36 and 57 years from Miranda state, two men aged 79 and 47 years from Mérida state, one woman aged 63 years from Yaracuy state and one child of six months of age in Bolívar state.
To date, 121,691 coronavirus infections have been confirmed in the country, with 6,587 still active, 113,982 recovered (94 percent), and 1,122 deaths.
Out of the active cases, Rodríguez specified that 4,341 patients are in public hospitals, 2,042 in Comprehensive Diagnosis Centers, 204 in private clinics and none in home isolation.
It was also reported that 5,285,625 disinfections of public spaces have been carried out.
