The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, visited the interior of the Admiral Gorshkov frigate and the deck of the Kazan nuclear submarine of the Russian Northern Fleet docked in the port of Havana. The president expressed his gratitude to the Russian sailors for the opportunity to visit the ships.
The crew members of the Russian military detachment received the president, who wrote a few words in the frigate’s visitor book. The Cuban leader wrote, “It is the expression of the solid and historical ties of friendship, brotherhood and cooperation that exist between our people, governments and armed forces. We appreciate the opportunity they have given us to visit the ships of the detachment and the extensive explanations they have given us. Meetings like this strengthen our relations and friendly ties.”

Miguel Díaz-Canel further wrote on his social media accounts.”Impressive and pleasant afternoon, even in the persistent rain. Welcome, friends of Russia.”
Meanwhile, citizens continue to queue to see up close the ships that arrived at the island this Wednesday and will remain there until next Monday. This Saturday the Admiral Gorshkov frigate reopened its doors to visitors after a pause on Friday. Despite the rain, hundreds of Cubans came to the capital’s bay to see the Kazan nuclear-powered submarine or visited the frigate, one of the most modern vessels in the Russian fleet.
Those who want to visit the frigate must pass a thorough security check after which they enter the vessel in groups of 30 people. At the frigate’s heliport, visitors receive an explanation about the ship and then the tour begins, which involves going through one of the ship’s internal corridors to reach its front. It is a short journey, but it is a landscape unknown to many and allows you to imagine what part of the life of soldiers at sea is like.
In addition, on the deck you can see some of the weapons and part of the technology that the frigate has. Some of the most curious visitors ask questions to the sailors and also take photos to take home a souvenir of the friendship between Cuba and Russia. The tour not only allows you to be on top of the boat and get to know it inside, but also offers a different panorama of the Bay of Havana and a close-up view of one of the great attractions of this naval detachment, known as the Kazan submarine.
