The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reported on Monday that he had a telephone conversation with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who ratified his support for the national government and respect for the Venezuelan sovereignty.
From the Miraflores Palace in Caracas, he announced that a delegation headed by the Turkish vice president will come to his inauguration and swearing in as president next Thursday, January 10, for the period 2019-2025.
“I have received the call of President Erdogan, who has ratified the support of his government and of Turkey to the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and of the exercise of its national sovereignty,” he said.
He ratified “the support for me, as president of the Republic, and announced the coming to the inauguration of a major delegation of Turkey, headed by his vice president,” he said.
He specified that he will maintain a permanent communication with his Turkish counterpart on all the agreements and alliances made in recent times for the benefit of both nations.
Venezuela and Turkey maintain ties of cooperation in different areas since 2010, when the first approach of Venezuela towards the Ottoman nation was made and the First Encounter of Complementarity was held. In 2011, the first energy agreements were established for the purpose of holding the First Mixed Commission Venezuela – Turkey.
