Jorge Rodríguez, United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) deputy and campaign staff manager for the incumbent candidate and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, has condemned plans that the Venezuelan far-right are developing in order to “claim fraud” after election day, scheduled for July 28, as well as the planning of criminal acts by María Corina Machado’s Vente Venezuela (VV) political party, a number of whom are hiding in the embassy of Argentina in Caracas.
This Thursday, June 27, Rodríguez accused VV’s Magally Meda and Humberto Villalobos of being the ringleaders in charge of the plan that is being drawn up from the Argentinian embassy, “thus violating the conventions and precepts of international diplomacy related to the right to asylum, which Venezuela respects without restriction because we are decent people,” he explained.
The PSUV deputy explained that the plan consists of placing motorcyclists, which they call “legionaries and deltas,” in voting centers on election day, “wherever they [the far-right] have the greatest voter turnout,” and attacking security personnel safeguarding the election centers, to generate chaos and violence in their own voting centers, where they have the majority, to sabotage the elections.
“These motorcyclists are going to demand that the victory of some of the far-right candidates be recognized, but victories are victories when they are won vote by vote,” said Rodríguez, adding that they have the documents to prove these plans in their custody.

“International principles are being violated if criminal acts against Venezuela are being planned and carried out from an embassy in a hosting country,” Rodríguez condemned, pointing at the government of Argentina for allowing these VV activists to organize terrorist acts from its embassy in Caracas.
It should be noted that Magally Meda belongs to María Corina Machado’s political strategy team, and Humberto Villalobos is the electoral coordinator of the Vente Venezuela party. They both have arrest warrants issued by the Venezuelan Public Ministry under conspiracy and terrorism charges, which were consequently used as an excuse to request political asylum in the Argentinian embassy.
Jorge Rodríguez further said that the Venezuelan government could summon Argentina’s diplomats, and that they would provide evidence of the alleged conspiracy plans to international electoral observers if necessary. He recalled that the extreme right has repeatedly claimed fraud in recent elections, and that is why it seeks to incite acts of violence and insists on electoral fraud as their strategy to destabilize the strength of the Chavista movement.
The PSUV deputy noted that the Venezuelan far-right wants the major international media to support their thesis of fraud. “They will say that the only result they will accept is that fascism won the elections,” he stated.
“The Venezuelan people can rest with confidence. We are going to dismantle these plans surgically, vote by vote,” Rodríguez stated. “President Maduro has already said it: go out into the streets and vote, and celebrate, because we are going to defeat them with votes. We are building the most powerful electoral machinery to achieve our immense victory and to defend the votes and choices of Venezuelans, as well as to defend the results of the electoral process of July 28.”
The defeat of the opposition
Jorge Rodríguez says that only extremist sectors could think that there would be fraud during the electoral process. “Why are they crying fraud so early? Because they already know that on July 28 they will be defeated,” he said. “They already know it, and they discuss it in their inner circles. This sector of extremism that does not believe in peaceful constitutional electoral solutions, they have never had a plan that goes beyond the electoral, and they do not go out to tour the country like our candidate, Nicolás Maduro, does, receiving a fervent demonstration of love,” the deputy added.
“They do not present their proposals directly to the Venezuelan people, they do not have plans or slogans, they do not dare to tell the people their true plans, such as privatizing education and health, as well as giving the oil to the gringos, to ExxonMobil,” Rodríguez continued.
He reiterated that the far-right opposition is only focused on preparing the framework to bring about violence and sabotage, and are committing criminal and barbaric acts, recalling the complaint made by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez about the acts of terrorism targeting the Angostura bridge over the Orinoco River, in Bolívar state.
“Mrs. Magally Meda, how many deaths would that action cost? Mrs. Machado, how many deaths would occur if the bridge collapsed?” Rodríguez asked. “See, they do not care about the lives of people, much less about the less privileged sectors. Remember that they burned people alive in the riots and beheaded motorcyclists [during the guarimbas]. They have no electoral plans or infrastructure, they are only criminals ready for sabotage and crime.”
He continued by presenting several photographs of acts of vandalism carried out during the 2014 and 2017 far-right violent protests, known as the guarimbas, stating that “it seems that they [the far-right] have a need to see the people suffering.”
