Thousands of Venezuelans gathered Tuesday, September 23, for a march to defend peace, sovereignty and the military, and to show support for Venezuela’s constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, against threats from the United States. The mobilization, called by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), departed from Zona Rental in Plaza Venezuela and headed to BolĂvar Avenue in Caracas, the Venezuelan capital.
Nahum Fernández, vice president of Mobilization and Events for the PSUV, said the message to the world is clear: “Don’t mess with Venezuela.” In a speech during the rally, Fernández expressed the willingness of Venezuelans, whom he called “sons of BolĂvar,” to take up arms if the country is attacked.
Through his social media accounts, the Venezuelan leader asserted that “the empire never ceases in its quest to threaten and attack the Bolivarian Homeland,” while emphasizing that social movements, political organizations, community spokespersons and representatives of all ages are raising their voices with courage and heroism. He added that Venezuela is “an indomitable people, full of courage, and heirs to the will of our heroes.”
“We do not want invasion, war or any kind of intervention,” Fernández wrote. “We tell the US government that it must cease its threats and its attacks on Venezuela, and we respond from the streets, where the history of the Bolivarian Revolution is being written.”
For her part, Caracas Mayor Carmen Meléndez emphasized that the march is attended by “all of us who love our country,” underscoring the people’s preparedness for the US siege. She recalled that millions of Venezuelans heeded President Maduro’s call to enlist in the Militia and other combat corps.
From early morning, Venezuelans began gathering, insisting on peaceful coexistence and reiterating their desire to preserve tranquility.

According to the PSUV’s vice presidency for Mobilization and Events, “these mobilizations are part of a series of civil and military actions that seek to strengthen unity and the comprehensive defense of Venezuelan territory.”
On Saturday, September 20, the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) and the Militia held a massive mobilization under the slogan “The barracks go to the people.” The military exercise sought to bring professional forces closer to communities.

The activity included a caravan of FANB tanks that departed from Fuerte Tiuna in Caracas, sending a clear message to the United States and its allies: Venezuela is prepared to defend every corner of its territory.
Along these lines, the “People Go to the Barracks” plan was previously activated to train the population in national defense. The event reinforced the government’s position of strengthening civic-military unity as a national security measure.
