The opposition has “professional fraud claimers” who are present every time they lose an election, said the vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello:
“Every time there is an election and the opposition loses, they come out saying that they were cheated and they are going to hand over the evidence. There are professional fraud claimers, and they are all active in the opposition.” Cabello made the comments during the weekly press conference of the PSUV this Monday, June 10.
He criticized the opposition’s ambiguous position of only recognizing the electoral results when they win an election. “It is behavior that leaves a lot to be desired from someone who wants to lead a country through elections,” he added.
Likewise, he remarked that on July 28, during the country’s presidential elections, the revolutionary forces of Venezuela will not allow the right to commit acts of violence.
“We are going to guarantee peace after July 28,” said Cabello. “We are not going to allow violence, nor guarimbas, nor calls of hate against people or institutions.”
Recognition of results
Cabello reiterated that the commitment to recognize the results of the presidential elections on July 28 must be expressed by all presidential candidates.
Cabello praised the presidential candidate for Democratic Action (AD) and Copei, Luis Eduardo Martínez, for committing to accept and respect the results of the presidential elections of July 28, and Cabello invited the other opposition candidates to follow his example.
The PSUV leader, after being questioned about the decision, said that it represents “the logic of an electoral process; it is the natural thing in life, winning or losing … whoever believes that he was born only for success is going to take a blow … I hope that what Luis Eduardo Martínez says is copied by all the candidates. There are eight missing out of nine.”

“Jorge Rodríguez, general coordinator of the Venezuela Nuestra Campaign Command, proposed an agreement,” said Cabello, and added that normally the opposition, after signing agreements to respect the results, goes on to claim that fraud occurred if they lose. “It is important that each candidate take the responsibility to say that they will recognize the results,” said Cabello.
“If you go to an election with the National Electoral Council (CNE), you know that there will be audits and then another one, before, during, and after the process,” added the vice president of the PSUV.
