Colombian President Gustavo Petro described the second attack authorized by US President Donald Trump against a vessel in the Caribbean Sea as “murder.”
The destruction — ordered by Trump — of a boat carrying a suspected drug shipment, manned by three individuals believed to be of Venezuelan origin, was addressed by Petro with concern during a recent Cabinet meeting at the Casa de Nariño.
“Even if they’re carrying cocaine, killing three passengers on an unarmed, unarmored boat with a missile is murder,” the Colombian president said. He emphasized: “the United States government is murdering Latin American people on their own land — because it’s their territorial waters. They don’t have the right to do so.”

The Colombian head of state criticized, “If there are Latin Americans who grant the United States government the right to murder defenseless Latin Americans, they are nothing more than stooges.”
On the afternoon of Monday, September 15, US President Donald Trump posted a video on his Truth Social account showing “a SECOND Kinetic Strike” in the Caribbean, targeting a vessel that he claimed was transporting drugs from Venezuela to the US.
Trump said the operation was carried out by Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) under his orders.
He added that the strike took place while the suspects “were in international waters” and, in his words, resulted in “3 male terrorists killed in action. No US forces were harmed in this strike.”
