The National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela turns 44 years old and the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted its intense work. “A marvel that thanks to the Bolivarian Revolution today reaches more than 1 million children and young people incorporated,” he said in a tweet published on Tuesday in his twitter account @NicolasMaduro.
A Project founded in 1975 by maestro José Antonio Abreu , El Sistema , as it is also known in the world, is one of the largest cultural projects in the world with a Venezuelan stamp.
It was born to systematize the instruction and the collective and individual practice of music through symphonic orchestras and choirs.
It conceives the practice of this art as a pillar for the social transformation and the humanistic development not only of the members, but of their relatives and communities from which they come.
Under the slogan “To play and fight”, the National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela exhibits a reality that has been described in the world as “the Venezuelan musical miracle,” says the Fundamusical web portal.
Today more than 1 million children and adolescents from lower socio-economic strata have a place in El Sistema for inclusion in the world of music.
Such has been its impact, that this experience has been studied by governments of more than 60 countries of the world for their application in their own national contexts.
