Thursday’s Assessment of COVID-19 in Venezuela

The Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that this Thursday, October 22, Venezuela reported 381 new cases of coronavirus, of which 375 are by community transmission and 6 are imported. Additionally six new deaths were reported.

Through her Twitter account the high-ranked official explained that, of the community infections the majority were registered in the state of Táchira, with 98 active infections in 10 municipalities. Followed by Miranda (63), Falcón (49) and Capital District (48).

The rest of the cases are distributed as follows by state: 41 in Yaracuy, 23 in Carabobo, 21 in Barinas, 20 in Lara, 8 in La Guaira, 1 in Apure, 1 in Trujillo, 1 in Portuguesa and 1 in Aragua.

Regarding imported infections, she specified that the 6 cases are nationals who arrived from Colombia and entered through the state of Táchira.

In addition, she confirmed the unfortunate death of 6 Venezuelans due to COVID-19. These deaths were recorded in the states of Táchira, Trujillo, Aragua and Zulia.

To date, 88,416 coronavirus infections have been confirmed in the country, including 82,284 (93%) recovered, 5,373 active, and a total of 759 deaths.
