Venezuela and Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of business and investments in oil and gas projects.
Venezuelan minister of Petroleum and president of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), Pedro Tellechea, reported this on Thursday, January 18. He wrote on social media, “We have signed an agreement with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, Arifin Tasrif, for the development of business and investments in oil and gas. This will improve Venezuela’s prospects in the strategic Asian market.”

The signing of the agreement took place at the headquarters of the Venezuelan state oil company in Caracas, where delegations from both countries discussed the business and investment opportunities in crude oil and gas, especially in the granting of licenses for offshore gas and oil projects in Venezuela.
Minister Tellechea highlighted the great opportunities for negotiation, especially with all the existing gas potential, within the framework of the certification of gas reserves that Venezuela will receive in the coming months, which constitutes a favorable space for cooperation between the two countries.

Indonesian Energy Minister Arifin Tasrif expressed his country’s interest in participating in projects with the Venezuelan oil and gas industry to export fuels to his country to cover the increase in energy demand.

On Thursday, Tellechea received the official visit of Minister Arifin Tasrif and his delegation, made up of the Deputy Minister and Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji, Executive Director of Pertamina International Exploration and Production (PIEP) Jaffee Arizon Suardin, and the Indonesian ambassador in Venezuela, Edy Mulyono.
At the meeting, the president of PDVSA was accompanied by the Ministry of Petroleum’s deputy minister of hydrocarbons, Erick Pérez, and the Venezuelan ambassador in Indonesia, Radames Gómez.
This agreement aims to strengthen the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation between Venezuela and Indonesia in the fields of oil and gas, to strengthen brotherly relations.
