Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—In the early hours of Monday, June 24, events commemorating the 203rd anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo and the Bolivarian National Armed Force Day began all over Venezuela.
By raising the Venezuelan flag at the National Pantheon in Caracas, Venezuelan authorities paid respect to the father of the nation, Liberator Simón Bolívar.
The ceremony was led by Venezuelan Minister of Interior Remigio Ceballos, who presented the national flag to Venezuelan Military Academy cadets and raised the flag in the courtyard of the building.
The event was also attended by President Nicolás Maduro, Minister for Housing Idelmaro Villarroel, Deputy Minister of Internal Policy and Legal Security Alana Zuloaga, and the military high command. A cultural event was held, after which Major General Johan Hernández Lárez spoke about the history of the Venezuelan army. Subsequently, the official signed a document ratifying the FANB’s commitment to the nation.

President Nicolás Maduro said that Venezuela has a powerful civil-military union committed to defending its peace and sovereignty, this time from the Battle of Carabobo Memorial Field near Valencia, Carabobo state. “Venezuela has someone who defends it, from every soldier to the humble people, because we love the country,” the president said.
President Maduro added that Venezuela upholds Bolívar’s anticolonial, anti-imperialist, and anti-oligarchic character. He also condemned the Venezuelan far-right’s demands to kneel before the US empire and privatize the army.
“Here, no one is going to come to privatize the FANB. No one is going to come to dissolve the Militia, the Bolivarian National Guard, to bring in the gringos to be bosses,” he said. “The Southern Command will never rule here again because in Venezuela, the Venezuelans rule. There are soldiers here to defend the homeland and the Bolivarian Revolution of the 21st century that Commander Chávez bequeathed to us.”

The president urged the armed forces to build “the largest independent, powerful, and sovereign technological and logistical military power that we have ever had in these lands.”
“If we want peace, let us prepare to have peace. If we want independence, let us prepare to defend it,” he added. “If we want a homeland for our sons and daughters, let us build a powerful, efficient, modern, democratic state. Let us build a powerful civil-military-police alliance. Let us build the greatest and most splendid military power that Venezuela has ever had.”
