Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)āVenezuelan President NicolĆ”s Maduro personally presented the Simón BolĆvar National Journalism Award 2025, in its international category, to Iranian Public Broadcasting (IRIB) presenter Sahar Emami. She was broadcasting live last June when the Israeli colony bombed the stationās studios, deeming it a “propaganda” tool.
The award, initially granted on June 27 during a ceremony at Miraflores Palace to all 2025 awardees, was presented in person this Thursday, July 31, at the SarrĆa Rebelde commune in La Candelaria parish, Caracas. The event coincided with Emamiās participation in an international journalism forum in the Venezuelan capital.
“I present this award to you [Emami],” President Maduro said, “in the name of all the women of Venezuela, all the social communicators of Venezuela, and our people. By giving it to you, I give it to the heroic and victorious people of Iran. Iran can always count on Venezuela.”
Sahar Emami achieved national hero status in Iran during the illegal bombing by remaining on live broadcast despite air raid alarms. When a missile from the Israeli settler entity exploded near the studio, she briefly sought cover, and returned to her desk with remarkable composure despite ongoing risks. She continued the live transmission, demonstrating that “the voice of truth cannot be silenced,” as she said on air during the bombing.

President Maduro praised Emamiās courage against the attempt to silence her. “A journalist who entered the beautiful history of our peopleās struggle,” he said. “They tried to silence her with a missile. The Zionists. And they couldnāt, and they wonāt be able to.”
Emami expressed gratitude for both the award and Venezuelaās support during Iranās 12-Day War. “On behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iranās people,” she said, “I thank your excellency Mr. President, and the people and government of Venezuela, for their unconditional solidarity during difficult times.”
