Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said, minutes before the announcement of a ceasefire, regarding the growing global tensions that could lead to nuclear conflict, that “peace can only be achieved with respect for and the restoration of international law.” He made the remarks Monday on his program Con Maduro+, following a statement earlier this month urging the international community to support a “Summit for Peace and Against War.”
“We have delivered a letter to ambassadors in Venezuela, to our diplomats in capitals worldwide, and to ambassadors at the United Nations (UN), taking the initiative to encourage leaders of nations most affected by Benjamin Netanyahu’s senseless war to boldly call for a World Summit for Peace and Against War,” he said.
“I call on the leadership of Donald Trump, President Xi Jinping, President Vladimir Putin, and in Latin America, on Gustavo Petro, president of CELAC, to activate global initiatives for a summit for peace and against war,” he added.
The head of state said the idea emerged from the Venezuelan people, rooted in the Bolivarian doctrine of global balance and peace, reflecting their understanding and the majority sentiment of humanity.
President Maduro reiterated that world peace requires unity and consideration of public opinion. He suggested the summit must occur “as soon as possible” in a West Asia country, led collectively by the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and BRICS.
He added that the Zionist state, established by the former British Empire after its protectorate, represents a colonial strategy to control West Asia’s oil, gas, and resources, fueling continuous war.
Netanyahu could launch an atomic bomb
The Venezuelan president warned that escalating conflict between the Israeli colony and Iran could lead Netanyahu to use nuclear weapons. “If war continues to escalate, it could become highly destructive, including nuclear. Netanyahu’s level of insanity could drive him to launch nuclear bombs against Iran,” he said.
Maduro criticized the Zionist entity, referring to it as a militaristic, colonial entity pursuing religious and racial supremacy over West Asia’s resources.

Meeting with senior military and political leaders
Maduro reported that on the weekend he met with senior political and military officials to assess global tensions and safeguard national peace. He accused far-right groups of exploiting the crisis to destabilize Venezuela, urging Diosdado Cabello, Venezuela’s minister of the interior, to update the public on related investigations.
