The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro referred to the unbelievably rapid recovery of the US President Donald Trump, and former president of Colombia Álvaro Uribe Vélez, after their infections with COVID-19 were reported.
This was expressed by the head of state during the graduation ceremony of Community Doctors, broadcast Tuesday by public TV network Venezolana de Televisión.
“Donald Trump (US) and Álvaro Uribe Vélez (Colombia) are the only two people in the world who were cured of COVID-19 on the third day. Amazing! Right?” said the national president.
These statements were made while commenting on the progress made by the Minister of Health, Carlos Alvarado, in his recovery process from the coronavirus. In most cases at least two weeks are needed for a recovery.
Orinoco Tribune looked for specialized data on this issue and found the following document (page 14) in the World Health Organization (WHO) website:
Using available preliminary data, the median time from onset to clinical recovery for mild cases is approximately two weeks and is three to six weeks for patients with severe or critical disease.
“He (Alvarado) did not have the ‘luck’ of Donald Trump, who dealt with the Coronavirus for only three days,” he added ironically.
This is an issue that most media corporations have let slip under the table in a very unprofessional way, opening the door for numerous speculations about the veracity of Trump’s real health problems, but also about the professionalism of his medical team, leaving aside the ethical issues embedded in the very unusual recovery of a 74-year old man.
