Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez reported a 16.33% increase in seasonal travelers during the 2025 Holy Week holiday compared to 2024. She also reported that the number of financial transactions increased by 20% despite US imperialist aggression against the Bolivarian Revolution and the Venezuelan people.
This Monday, April 21, during a ceremony to asses the Safe Holy Week 2025 program launched by the Maduro administration, Rodríguez said that over 12.3 million people visited religious temples, beaches, rivers, parks, resorts, mountains, rivers, and entertainment venues. “They did so in an orderly, coordinated, and peaceful manner thanks to the deployment of law enforcement agents nationwide,” she said, acknowledging the officers’ exemplary work that received awards from Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello.
Most visited tourist sites
She highlighted the Bicentennial Monument of the Battle of Carabobo in Campo Carabobo as a key destination. “The Venezuelan people came to enjoy our history, the grandeur of the steps taken by the liberators—men and women, heroes and heroines—of the Venezuelan War of Independence,” she remarked.

Rodríguez noted an average hotel occupancy rate of 80%, with popular destinations like Canaima, Los Roques, and Morrocoy reaching 100% capacity. Beaches remained the primary attraction.
States with the highest tourist influx
The states of Falcón, La Guaira, Miranda, Aragua, and Anzoátegui saw the highest tourist traffic, with visitors enjoying coastal areas, rivers, entertainment venues, and cultural sites.
“This reflects the determination of our people,” Rodríguez emphasized, “who, despite efforts to sabotage their opportunities for celebration, embraced Holy Week with joy, spirituality, and contemplation.”
Economic and security successes
She underscored the economic boost from hotel occupancy, tourism services, and a 20% increase in electronic transactions (over 259 million) compared to 2024. Rodríguez also praised security forces, including the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB), for ensuring peace.
Recreation workers were recognized for organizing activities for 4.5 million people. “We continue striving for a Venezuela of peace, prosperity, and social happiness,” she added.
Condolences for Pope Francis
Rodríguez opened her remarks by mourning the passing of Pope Francis, whom she called a “friend of the Venezuelan people” for his recognition of José Gregorio Hernández’s holiness.
In the afternoon, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro declared a national mourning of three days for the passing of Pope Francis.
Faith filled the streets of Caracas
Caracas Mayor Carmen Meléndez noted widespread participation in religious events, including Eucharistic celebrations, Stations of the Cross reenactments, and visits to seven churches. Over 9,000 security officers safeguarded families during cultural and sports activities in public spaces.
