Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—Political analyst and president of the prestigious Venezuelan Hinterlaces polling firm, Oscar Schémel, stated Tuesday, July 15, on his program Situational Analysis that only 9% of Venezuelans currently support and sympathize with opposition political parties.
These data are supported by the July Hinterlaces Country Monitor Survey, a forecast for the upcoming mayoral and council elections scheduled for July 27.
According to Hinterlaces projections, the PSUV and the Great Patriotic Pole Alliance (GPPSB)) would obtain 91% of the voting intention, while the opposition would obtain only 9%.

In the most recent Monitor-PaĂs Hinterlaces study, carried out in July 2025, citizens’ willingness to participate in the mayoral and council elections scheduled for July 27 was assessed, as well as political trends at the municipal level.
Expected voter turnout
According to the results of this survey, 57% of Venezuelans say they will definitely vote in the municipal elections. This figure reflects a significant level of citizen engagement with electoral processes despite the current social and economic context. Willingness to vote remains a key indicator of the perception of institutionality and interest in influencing local power structures.
In the previous Hinterlaces survey (May 5, 2025) before the May 27 parliamentary election, the polling firm reported that 52% of Venezuelans said they would definitely vote in that election and 17% probably would.
The second and final report of results for that election, released by the Venezuelan National Electoral Council (CNE), showed 43.18% participation. So far, the CNE has not released detailed electoral results, casting doubt on the integrity of the electoral system and discouraging participation according to many analysts.

Election forecast
Regarding projected results, the study reveals that candidates from the PSUV and its allies in the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) would win 91% of mayoral races, while opposition parties would win 9%. This shows a consolidation of the ruling party at the municipal level, highlighting its organizational structure and territorial roots.
In its May 5 pre-parliamentary election survey, the Venezuelan polling firm reported that of those willing to vote, 83% supported Chavismo, 48% supported independents (“Ni-Nis”), and 18% backed opposition parties.
