Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has announced that a new security and intelligence operation is in full swing, involving the capture of a group of new terrorists—both foreign and domestic—alongside grenades and explosives.
The head of state made the announcement this Thursday, May 22, during his participation in the closing rally for the Chavista campaign ahead of the upcoming elections, held at Libertador Avenue near Maripérez, Caracas. He added that Diosdado Cabello will provide further details of these new arrests in the coming hours.
President Maduro joined the massive mobilization that marked the closure of the campaign of the Great Patriotic Pole Simón Bolívar in the run-up to the elections on May 25. The rally was a popular deployment that coincided with mobilizations across other mayor cities in Venezuela, in the midst of an electoral process marked by a climate of civility.
“Even if imperialism and the extremist right refuse to accept it, we are a reality,” the head of state reiterated. “We are a historical block, a force that comes from Simón Bolívar. Here we are with Chávez, and where the people are mobilized, there he is.”
“We are dismantling a terrorist offensive that has been launched with the complicity of Uribe and Duque from Colombia, from Miami,” he explained. “And the good thing is that the intelligence, patrol, and immediate response methods are working, and the union of the people, the military, and the police is working.”
On Monday, May 19, Diosdado Cabello, Venezuela’s interior minister, confirmed the arrest of a group of 38 mercenaries involved in a conspiracy against the country, seeking to sabotage the legislative and regional elections on May 25.
The minister also explained in a press conference that of the 38 new detainees, including explosives experts, thugs, and mercenaries, 17 are foreigners (from México, Colombia, and Ukraine) and 21 are Venezuelans.
Cabello specified that the targets were embassies, police stations, hospitals, health care centers, public service facilities, transportation facilities, gas stations, and the electricity grid. He emphasized that the terrorists had in their possession documents, conversations, and evidence on their phones that were to have been used to carry out their plans.
Minister Cabello added that other targets included figures from both the Bolivarian Revolution and the Venezuelan opposition, “especially those currently at the forefront as opposition candidates. This is the scenario they want to present to the world: that there are no conditions in Venezuela for holding an election.”
This Wednesday, during his program Con el Mazo Dando, episode 527, Cabello reported that another new group of mercenaries was arrested. Among those arrested for conspiratorial plans to sabotage the regional and parliamentary elections, scheduled for this Sunday, were Spanish, Argentinian, and Bulgarian nationals.
He pointed out that the detained Spaniard is part of a drug trafficking syndicate, and that an Albanian-Colombian citizen, who had been arrested previously, is wanted by international justice, explaining that “the world knows where drugs are currently coming out of Colombia: through Ecuador.” He also reported that drug trafficking in Ecuador is led by Albanians who are in partnership with Daniel Noboa’s government.
As Cabello revealed on his program, these mafias are known for their drug, arms, and human trafficking. They operate primarily in Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ecuador, Colombia, and Perú. In Ecuador, they have been operating since 2009 as intermediaries in cocaine trafficking to Europe, using fruit and food companies as fronts.
He also revealed that the Albanian mafia’s connection with María Corina Machado stems from the pact she made with Daniel Noboa, the president of Ecuador, and that the plot is connected to the presence in that country of the mercenary leader from the US empire, Erik Prince.
