The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has called on the political powers of West Asia and around the world to seek immediate peace and for a ceasing of attacks by the Israeli settler entity and Benjamin Netanyahu against Iran and its people. “Cease this violation of international law, law that is supposed to guarantee peace, coexistence, and harmony,” said the head of state.
“I call on all the governments of the emerging powers,” the president stated this Tuesday, June 17, “the government of China, Russia, Turkey, the Gulf Council countries, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and all countries of the Global South, but especially Muslim countries, to support the Islamic Republic of Iran in its right to peace. Enough of wars in the world! Enough of Netanyahu’s madness against the Muslim and Arab peoples!”
The head of state explained that Iran has acted in self-defense, in accordance with international law. “It is a pacifist country,” he stated, “peaceful, by religion and by conviction.”
As part of a meeting with congresspeople, Nicolás Maduro clarified that the Israeli entity’s attacks against Iran are not a reflection of a religious conflict, but rather an imperialist war against the indigenous people of the area, continuing the aggression initiated against Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iraq.
“It’s an imperialist war to destroy peoples, to impose its colonial military rule, order, and obedience,” the Venezuelan leader added. “They cry out for order in Washington, and the world must obey. [But] that’s over, it’s behind us. A new world has been born.”
Enough of wars in the world!
Addressing the parliamentary majority for the 2026-2031 term, the Venezuelan president questioned how far they would allow the current prime minister of the Israeli settler colony, Benjamin Netanyahu, to go. He recalled that the prime minister has ordered the massacre of more than 60,000 Palestinians, including more than 30,000 children. “He has already destroyed parts of Beirut and southern Lebanon,” President Maduro stated. “Every day he bombs Syria and Yemen. He threatens Jordan and Iraq. He believes he can, and they believe the time has come to impose their project from the Jordan to the Euphrates.”
“Has Hitler’s criminal idea returned to the Zionist state, to Netanyahu?” the Venezuelan president continued. “Do Berlin, Paris, London, and Washington want a nuclear war and are they encouraging it? How far do they intend to go?”
President Maduro took care to highlight the military superiority that Iran has demonstrated over the Israeli entity, but clarified that Iran does not want war. “The powerful countries of the region and the world must sit down and force Netanyahu’s government to stop its attacks and respect international law. That must be the way forward; the way forward cannot be an escalation of violence, deaths, or bombs.”
Call to Jewish and US settler communities
The president called for the Jewish communities in occupied Palestinian territories to stop the Israeli colonial regime’s war against neighboring countries, as it is “a Hitlerite, supremacist, and Nazi idea that must be defeated.”
President Maduro also sent a message to people in the US empire: “Do you want another war? Do you want the US to be involved in the killing, the bloodshed, the destruction of Muslim peoples, and for the US to be branded as the initiator of World War III?” He emphasized that only the people in the US entity can stop the warmongering actions of the government of the US empire.
“I call from South America, based on the ideals of Bolívar,” he said, concluding his speech, “on the people of the US to stop this warlike tendency they seek to impose.”
