Just one month before the November 30 vote for a new President of Honduras, as reported by Progressive International, leaked recordings unveiled a plot to manipulate logistics on election day, create chaos, and invite the US embassy to declare someone other than Rixi Moncada as the victor. Moncada, the governing party candidate, is leading by 14 percentage points in recent polls.
As the government applies the Constitution to protect the votes of the Honduran people, it finds itself obliged to take measures that are easily criticized if viewed out of context. Particularly sensitive is the matter of international elections observers, since the audios suggest these may include infiltrators used to project false electoral results.
Election interference is also found in the threat of further US sanctions looming over the Central American country. A bill filed last summer sets some requirements for the elections, including that the US Secretary of State āshall establish a strategy to promote free and fair elections in Honduras.ā This would include monitoring by groups such as the Organization of American States (OAS), which is ominous in light of the OASā history of facilitating electoral coups. The bill also asks the Secretary of State to help Hondurans be able to cast ballots in the United States. It is odd that such specific criteria are given for the elections to qualify as ādemocratic,ā and therefore avoid sanctions. Could it be that these are also part of the electoral coup plan?
Already, US puppet opposition groups such as the Association for a More Just Society, have been protesting over āthreats to democracy in Honduras,ā and wealthy Honduran women are in the streets of Tegucigalpa demanding reinstatement of the coup plotters.
Meanwhile, Xiomara Castroās current Libre government has brought more than one million Hondurans out of poverty; provides an energy subsidy to 850,000 impoverished families; and provides 1.2 million children with school lunch. Hospitals and schools have been built, making healthcare and education more accessible, and the country has been declared free of illiteracy. The government also overturned the illegal ZEDEs law imposed by the previous coup government which ceded national territory to foreign companies, and Honduras has been an engaged partner in CELAC and a fierce defender of Latin American sovereignty. This is precisely the kind of government that is consistently attacked by US imperialism.
The country has faced interference from the United States every day of Castroās term, including various coup attempts. As Hondurasā nascent democratic institutions rise to these challenges, it is instructive to read the following editorial published by the Committee of Families of Disappeared Detainees in Honduras (COFADEH), a grassroots human rights organization founded in 1982.
The new political landscape of Honduras
The National Partyās secret operation to sacrifice Nasry Asfura for the fake technocrat Salvador Nasralla, is not a case of blue party/red party betrayal, but rather the latest ruse by the oligarchy in cahoots with the United States embassy to save one of its parties so that it can keep committing crimes.
A series of events contrived by the electoral authorities and under cover of night, of the Public Prosecutor, and the judicial branch, as well as the armed forces and the G-16 donor group, has finally put together a scenario that has real potential, with the elections just one month out.
This is the new political landscape in which families enriched by organized crime, and their international protectors, face off against the Honduran people, who are the victims of the impoverishment and violence generated by those scum.
The main features of the present moment point to a conspiracy as bad or worse than that of 2009. The players are virtually the same: a group of active military colluding with lowlifes and fugitives, a soulless and corrupt electoral council member at the behest of Liberal Party and National Party operatives, and a coup-mongering embassy that has been maneuvering on three different fronts.
The country is at a crossroads. It needs to decide whether the State will defend itself against this electoral coup conspiracy with the tools at its disposalāthe Constitution, the prosecutorās office and the courts, the Congress, and the military and policeāor if it will once again succumb to criminal groups and the international fascist movement, as it did in 2009, 2013, and 2017.

The plot is brazen. It would upset the current balance of power by storming the executive and legislative branches, using the formal vote at the polls to poison the popular will and once again subject our people to violent rulers and the return of the narcos: cocaine, fentanyl, money laundering, caravans of undocumented people, weapons of war, pedophilia, and the gutting of the State.
Marco Rubioās gringo State Department is said to be clandestinely aligned with this effort, while a group of Republicans in Congress are openly implicated. They believe the time has come to take Latin America back through gunboat diplomacy, as if we ever belonged to them.
The terrible confessions of the people used in the electoral coup planned for November 30th have horrified the country because they are part of the State, in the institutions created by the Constitution to instill trust that one can vote and run for office in freedom and democracy. The confessions of Cossette and that low-life they call Kossitto, are enough to make you bleed. They are schemes to make money off of dead bodies; ghoulish deals with the devil.
The felony plot entails putting uniformed gang members in charge of transporting elections materials; deliberate delays in the transmission of election data; the reporting of false results to generate chaos; and the imposition of a provisional civilian-military government. In other words, a blatant coup which we donāt want to watch as if it were a football match livestreamed on social media.
The Libre Party responded appropriately. Just as loudly as it had cried, āJuan Orlando HernĆ”ndezāOut!ā it said, āCossetteāOut!ā Because she represents the body of the snake. She represents the visible and invisible conspirators. The night before last she was suspended from the electoral body, where she is still showing up in a display of insulting disregard for the nation. She is shamelessly denying the truth, just like the 142 criminals of the National Party and Liberal Party currently facing trial or serving sentences in the United States.
Libre has also convened its supporters from throughout the country to occupy Tegucigalpa indefinitely starting on Sunday of next week. Because while people in every corner of Honduras are rightly asking whether the State is capable of detaining the criminals, judging them in court and punishing them, the organized people of the nation must do their part.
Carlos H always says that the people will always exist and will always prevail, even when they face repression and genocide. This is why, absent an official statement by the staff of the CIA, the DEA, or the United States office of political affairs in Tegucigalpa, that embassy will be a mandatory stop on the pilgrimage to the capitol on November 9th. We do not want another Lisa or another Fulton announcing or endorsing doctored results.
To finish the term of this administration, which marks the social and political transition away from the dictatorship of El Chapo and the HernĆ”ndez brothers, with an electoral coup, would be no small matter. It would be a disaster for everyone. It would be an unprecedented return to utter darkness, very much under the sway of the MAGA movement or the new criminal cartels. Just imagine somedayāeven one dayāunder the presidency of such a stupid, crooked person. Imagine a house that has been cleaned up and had its dignity restored being turned over to the pigs. It would be worse than Orson Wellesā Animal Farm.
The organization publishing this editorial, COFADEH, had to collect corpses and listen to testimony about persecution and torture after the electoral coups of 2013 and 2017. But since then, it has witnessed the maturation of critical consciousness of a people who are capable of defeating any plot if they try to humiliate us again. This is why people are very alert to the new political landscape.
So, we can say that the secret operation by the National Party to get Nasralla recognized instead of Asfura is a blue party/red party betrayal, and a failed operation by the CIA and its local economic allies. But above all, we say that the criminals and rights violators must pay for their crimes.
