Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro, along with eight former candidates for the July 28 presidential elections, went to the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to sign a document in which they promised to comply with the commitment to collaborate with and abide by the decisions of the highest court of the country.
On Friday, August 2, President Maduro, Antonio Ecarri from Lápiz Alliance, José Brito from Primero Venezuela, Luis Eduardo Martínez from Acción Democrática and COPEI, Benjamín Rausseo from Conde, Javier Bertucci from El Cambio, Daniel Ceballos from AREPA, Claudio Fermín from Solutions for Venezuela, and Enrique Márquez from Centrados attended the hearing at the TSJ headquarters in Caracas, held as part of the electoral audit process carried out by the Electoral Chamber of the court. Only the far-right candidate, Edmundo González from the Unitary Platform, was absent. He also did not sign the anti-guarimba agreement before the election.
The minutes were read by Magistrate Caryslia Beatríz Rodríguez, the president of the Electoral Chamber and of the TSJ, who presided over the hearing, accompanied by Magistrates Fanny Márquez and Inocencio Figueroa.
“All candidates, political parties, National Electoral Council, and other parties involved in the referred electoral event must submit all required legal documents of juridical relevance,” the document read.
During the meeting, the attending candidates signed an agreement expressing their commitment to collaborate with the court fully and to present all the documents required to review the results of the July 28 elections, as requested in the electoral appeal filed by the recently re-elected President Maduro.

However, the far-right candidate, Edmundo González, disregarded the summons issued by the Supreme Court.
The attorney general of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, also appeared before the Electoral Chamber of the TSJ, responding to the court’s summons.
The president of the TSJ and its Electoral Chamber, Caryslia Rodriguez, urged all citizens, political parties, and other organizations involved in the electoral process to abide by the decision handed down by the court after the review process is completed.
“This is the highest and the only instance of electoral contentions jurisdiction, and its rulings are binding,” the magistrate highlighted.
