The country’s extremist opposition is advancing a plan to sabotage the national electrical system and cause an incident that damages the climate of peace and tranquility that is currently experienced in the country, said the president of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro.
During the broadcast of the weekly program Con Maduro +, the Venezuelan head of state highlighted that these actions by the right are aimed at harming the people and especially those communities where Chavismo wins elections with 90% of the votes.
Venezuela’s Defense Minister: Army Prepared to Fight New Foreign Threats
“I have fully confirmed evidence, first-hand information from the conversations of fascist right-wing groups, preparing an offensive against the electrical system,” said the president, “an ‘electric war’ to cause an event in the country that damages the climate of peace, tranquility, and happiness that is characterizing the electoral process, the electoral party.”
He pointed out that these intended attacks were to be concentrated “in the communities where Chavismo wins with 80 or 90% of the votes… To scare people.” He indicated that some of the plotters have been “captured, imprisoned, [and] prosecuted by the Prosecutor’s Office, convicted and confessed.”
The president requested that the Venezuelan people be on alert, and he ordered the military High Command to create a special 24-hour surveillance plan for all vital elements of the electrical system.
President Maduro also showed videos of how Corpolec facilities in Nueva Esparta, Guárico, and Zulia were sabotaged. Corpolec is Venezuela’s publicly owned electricity provider

Likewise, he urged organizations such as the Popular Units for Peace (UPPAZ) of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) to join these operations that seek to ensure the electricity supply and the tranquility of the people.
In addition, he instructed the president of the dialogue commission with the opposition, Jorge Rodríguez, to take this complaint to the right wing so that they halt their plans to sow instability in Venezuela.
