The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, warned that the far-right leader Edmundo González would be planning his escape from the country.
Upon receiving a massive Chavista demonstration on Saturday, August 17, at Miraflores Palace, the Venezuelan leader referred to the disappearance of González from right-wing gatherings.
President Maduro said that the former presidential candidate would be hiding to plan his escape to Miami, Florida in the United States.
Maduro asked, “Where is the filthy man, where is Edmundo González Urrutia hiding? Why doesn’t he show his face?” He continued with irony, “Could it be that he won a raffle to hide in a cave and is preparing his escape? Coward, where are you hiding?”
The Venezuelan Public Ministry (MP) is currently conducting an investigation against the former presidential candidate for signing a document in which he calls for a military insurrection and labels himself as president-elect of Venezuela.
The Venezuelan president said that the extreme right deflated due to the low turnout seen on Saturday at the rally organized by the far-right politician MarĂa Corina Machado.
On the other hand, President Maduro highlighted the success of the Chavista demonstration, which took place in more than 100 cities in Venezuela in defense of peace and truth.

“The fascist right has failed … They believed that with the influencers from Miami they were going to mobilize the streets, I tell you, they failed! ” Maduro added.
During his speech, the president recalled that Venezuela’s fascist far-right tried to tarnish the elections in Venezuela. He added that they were unable to do so becausei the people defeated them in less than 48 hours.
