The Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, recalled on Monday the birth of Eliézer Otaiza, a prominent soldier and Venezuelan public servant, who participated in the insurrection of November 27, 1992 against the government of Carlos Andrés Pérez and then he was a prominent collaborator of President Hugo Chávez Frías.
“We celebrate the life of our soul brother Eliézer Otaiza, a fighter loyal to the Revolution. In our daily action we take their example of tireless struggle for the just causes of our Homeland. His cheerful warrior spirit will always be with us, “President Maduro wrote on his Twitter account.
Otaiza, born on January 7, 1965, studied and graduated from the Military Academy, where he obtained a degree in Arts and Military Sciences. It is in this institution where he meets the socialist leader Hugo Chávez, when he was an instructor of Military History and the Bolivarian Chair.
In addition to working in the military, political and social field, he was a sports lover, developing professionally in swimming. Until 1987 he was a member of the national team of swimming.
In December 2013, he was chosen by the people as a councilor by a vote in the Libertador municipality by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and appointed president of the Municipal Chamber. [He was key in the restore of democracy during the 2002 Coup D’Etat].
