The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated that the country expects a robust economic growth of at least 9% in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) for the end of 2025.
He made this remark during the program Con Maduro+ on Tuesday, July 22, explaining that the projection is based on the sustained economic growth that the country has experienced, in which the tourism sector has played a fundamental role.
He also highlighted that Venezuela has achieved 17 consecutive quarters of economic growth, overcoming more than 1,000 unilateral coercive measures imposed on the country by the United States and its allies, measures that have had a significant impact on all sections of the Venezuelan society.
In this context, tourism, as one of the 13 engines of the national economy, has generated a positive impact for the country. “Tourism creates a lot of employment, a lot of economic activity,” said President Maduro, highlighting that it adds to the economic diversification of the country.
In 2024, the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) reported that the Venezuelan economy had exceeded 9% growth, while the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) reported that the Venezuelan economy experienced an economic growth of 6.5%, driven mainly by a 17.2% increase in the oil sector and a 4.7% growth in non-oil activities.
