Medina indicated during the meeting of the Association of Agricultural and Livestock Producers of the State of Anzoátegui that, despite the variations that the sector has suffered, in 2024, there was an increase in demand for meat.
He explained that in the first quarter of 2024, the per capita consumption of the population increased, and he noted that they managed to “increase production to more than four kilograms per Venezuelan, which met the increase in demand.”
In this context, Medina specified that this increase allowed for the stabilization of the price of meat, thus alleviating some problems that persist in the sector.
Medina cited as an example the need to speed up the Criminal Law on Livestock Activity so that exemplary penalties are codified in order to prevent crimes such as genetic manipulation from being committed, as well as cattle rustling.
He asserted that the year 2024 must close with stability in the prices of meat and milk.
“In 2025, we must start with strength, unity, and a lot of coordination so that the people of Venezuela can continue to have the food they need,” he concluded.
