The oceanic research vessel Admiral Vladimirsky of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy has arrived in Venezuela as part of the military cooperation between the two countries.
On Saturday, April 12, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino LĂłpez announced the arrival of the Russian ship at the La Guaira Port. The Russian naval training ship Smolniy also arrived in Venezuela in August 2024 as part of a cooperation visit.
The Venezuelan defense minister highlighted that in March of this year, Russia and Venezuela celebrated 80 years of their diplomatic relationship.
After Hugo Chávez became the president of Venezuela in 1999, ties between the two nations strengthened, and currently, under President Nicolás Maduro, strategic alliances with Russia are growing.
On Friday, the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs announced the participation of President Nicolás Maduro at the 80th anniversary event of the Soviet Union’s victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War, to be held in Moscow on May 9.

Chevron oil tankers sent back to Venezuela
On Friday, Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy RodrĂguez reported that, pressured by the US government’s economic war against Venezuela, Chevron has returned crude oil shipments to the Venezuelan state-owned oil corporation PDVSA, given the impossibility and restrictions imposed on Chevron to pay Venezuela for the oil.
She added that “this crude oil is being traded on international markets.” She also emphasized that PDVSA will respect the contractual terms and obligations agreed upon with the transnational corporations. “There are laws in Venezuela, and they are respected,” she said.
“The United States will not prevent our country from working and moving forward! Venezuela will win!” she added.
Chevron, one of the largest oil corporations in the world, has been ordered by the US government to return nearly one million barrels of Venezuelan crude oil to PetrĂłleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), the Venezuelan state-owned oil company, international media reported.
