This Friday, Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello confirmed the arrest of a citizen who intended to provide the United States with alleged coordinates of locations of Iranian missiles in Venezuela.
During episode 20 of the podcast Sin Truco Ni Maña, alongside Congresswoman Tania DĂaz, Cabello explained that “in recent days, days we received audio… from a man talking to a person with a gringo accent. He is talking to him about the danger that Venezuela represents for the United States because from here they can throw bombs at it.”
Minister Cabello also added that this individual implied that he had knowledge of the location of missiles in Venezuela and was going to provide the information to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
“We did our intelligence work and caught the man, who is 74 years old, a chemist, an academic,” Cabella explained, adding that the first thing this person said was that “he only spoke in theory,” but they showed him evidence of the conversation about “the fact that there are Iranian missile launch sites in Venezuela.”
Cabello stated that the citizen was detained before having the conversation with the FBI. “Imagine this. He gives some coordinates over there to some crazy people with a little red button. From there, they assume whatever this guy says is true, and they throw a bomb, it explodes, and it ends up landing on a school here in Venezuela.”
The minister added that this individual has his ex-wife in the US, who put him in contact with a US government official, a woman whose identity is still unknown.
He mentioned that this development comes in line with previous statements made by opposition leader MarĂa Corina Machado. Cabello emphasized that Machado is “obsessed with power, saying that Venezuela is the only country in Latin America capable of building combat drones. It is disrespectful even to other countries because other countries [in Latin America] have been building drones for a long time and use them, for example, for agriculture. What is happening is that she is thinking about drones to blow people up,” Cabello added.
Opposition terrorist plans
Minister Cabello reiterated his warning about the Venezuelan far-right opposition’s terrorist plans against the country, asserting that today, “they have a different level of desperation.”
“When they start looking for shortcuts, the madness begins… We have warned them. They want to attack hospitals, embassies. Right now, they want to attack a Jewish religious temple in Venezuela to blame the government or Iran, that is what they are saying right now. They have some guys who are fascists, who are the ones who end up doing business with them. That is where Operation Aurora, Ya casi Venezuela, came from. What they do is business,” he added.
On another note, the minister commented that information about an operation being dismantled in the east of the country will be released later. Weapons, a rocket launcher, and grenades that would be used in the same operation were found Thursday night in Caracas.
