Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—This week, Venezuela repatriated 591 migrants from the United States, even amid the escalation of US military threats against the country. The repatriated individuals arrived on two flights that landed on Wednesday, September 2, and Friday, September 5, at the SimĂłn BolĂvar International Airport as part of the Great Return to the Homeland Mission.
On Wednesday, this year’s 64th flight of the Return to the Homeland Mission arrived with 286 compatriots from Texas, USA. The Venezuelan government did not provide information about the number of men and women who arrived, as it usually does. Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello reported hours later that one of those who arrived in the group had to be sent back because he was apparently a US citizen who did not even speak Spanish and had no ties to Venezuela. He remarked that this is further proof of the US authorities’ level of disorganization regarding the deportation of migrants.
On Friday, 305 Venezuelans, including three children, were repatriated from the United States, on board the 65th flight of this year of the Great Return to the Homeland Mission. In this case, the Venezuelan authorities also did not provide details on the number of women and men in the group.
The repatriates’ joy of being home was visible as they left the flight at the SimĂłn BolĂvar International Airport in MaiquetĂa.
“Thank you for helping us be together as a family,” said a mother who, with tears in her eyes and brimming with emotion, welcomed her son who had been unjustly detained in a prison by US authorities.

Similarly, the grandmother of one of the repatriated minors said, “I want to thank President Nicolás Maduro and Minister Diosdado Cabello for this reunion and the great blessing that it is to be reunited with my grandson after having lost my daughter.”
Upon their arrival, the repatriated individuals were received by the authorities following the protocols of the Return to the Homeland plan, consisting of checks on judicial, medical, and psychological backgrounds, documentation, and socioeconomic status.
Three children reunited with their parents
Three children who had been separated from their families and held in the United States returned to the country on the flight, reported the president of the Great Return to the Homeland Mission, Camilla Fabri.
Robin Cárdenas, Yoisner Graterol, and Isaac Lovera were separated from their families by US immigration authorities, in flagrant violation of international law and human rights.
“These little warriors have had a difficult experience, but now they are here to reunite with their families and begin a new stage full of love and hope,” said Fabri.
