With only two days left until the presidential elections take place in Venezuela, the far-right opposition is attempting to commit electoral crimes, as reported by the constitutional lawyer Olga Ălvarez on social media. She stated that those trying to manipulate the voting table members are committing serious electoral crimes.
In an X post on Thursday, July 25, the lawyer shared that the far-right coalition Unitary Platform’s presidential candidate Edmundo GonzĂĄlez, disqualified candidate MarĂa Corina Machado, and members of their campaign have committed a serious crime by having summoned, trained, and given instructions to table members, as they have said in multiple communications and statements.

Ălvarez explained that according to Articles 100 and 101 of the Organic Law of Electoral Processes, âno table member can follow instructions from any political organizationâ and that if they do so, âthe National Electoral Council may suspend them, among other actions that would be decided by the competent bodies.â
If voting table members are manipulated, âthe performance of a subordinate body of the Electoral Power is compromised, and the principles governing electoral matters are violated.â

She emphasized that “those involved in this violation of the electoral regulations and who participated in any phase of recruitment, training, or accreditation of table members are committing a serious electoral crime.â
Evidence of such crimes is reflected in multiple declarations by the Unitary Platform’s campaign command that refused to sign the CNE agreement to commit to accepting the electoral results. Therefore, Ălvarez made this public complaint about electoral crimes so that those who have committed such crimes “may be investigated and sanctioned as established by the laws of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.â
