The president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge RodrĂguez, highlighted the strategic importance of the Parliamentary Meeting of the Greater Caribbean for Peace in Caracas. The meeting brings together legislators from 14 countries with the aim of strengthening diplomatic ties and promoting regional integration amid US invasion threats.
During his address at the inauguration of the meeting on Friday, October 31, RodrĂguez described the event as a necessary response to “the most barbaric aggression that the Caribbean has suffered in the last 150 years,” with particular emphasis on the attacks directed against Venezuela.
He condemned the presence of a United States “brutal fleet” in Caribbean waters, which has carried out extrajudicial killings based on “slander and lies,” undermining the region’s sovereignty and peace.

During his address, RodrĂguez highlighted that the US is intensifying its plan against Venezuela with the sole objective of seizing its natural resources under the guise of a false anti-drug narrative. These aggressions come after the US failed to bring about “regime change” despite having imposed over 1,000 sanctions.
In light of this scenario, RodrĂguez urged the region’s parliamentarians to implement Parliamentary Diplomacy for Peace to reinforce the 2014 Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Havana Declaration, which enshrines the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
Based on the deliberations at the Parliamentary Meeting, a Great Caribbean Parliamentary Declaration for Peace was adopted, which will be published soon.
