Two-time indoor world champion and Olympic runner-up, Yulimar Rojas, won the gold medal at the athletics circuit on Wednesday at the Sportpark Arena in Dusseldorf , Germany in the Women’s Triple Jump category.
Rojas, 23 years old, got 14.46 meters to beat the Portuguese Patricia Mamona ( 14.22 ) and the Finnish Kristiina Makela ( 14.05 ), who occupied the second and third place, respectively.
“It has been a very good winter outdoor season, with a personal record, with a South American record. Too bad we could not reach 15 meters now but I know they are in my legs”, she said in an audio broadcast by her press team.
Also the outdoor world champion, she jumped 13.57 meters on her first attempt, then failed the next three. In the fifth she scored 14.45 and in the last she climbed an inch to take the gold.
This victory comes after taking the gold medal at the Athletics Meeting in Madrid , where she managed to establish a new South American record, in addition to beating her best record indoors with a jump of 14.92 meters . And all of this happened after being out of competitions more than a year due to several injuries.
