Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez stated that those attempting to criminalize the courage and honor of President Nicolás Maduro have met the dignified stance of a people defending its sovereignty.
The vice president’s statement, published Saturday, August 9, on social media, alludes to recent statements by US Attorney General Pam Bondi, who last Thursday announced an increase in the bounty for information leading to the arrest of the Venezuelan president.
“The public authorities of the Venezuelan state and the FANB condemn this barbaric threat against Venezuela and our head of state. Those who, through violent extremism, believe they can seize political power in Venezuela will encounter a highly organized and empowered people,” she stated.
The vice president added that “the history of humanity is riddled with lies fabricated by the United States and its Western satellites, intended to undermine the sovereignty of countries and force regime changes against those who do not submit to their perverse interests.”
The US government’s accusations have been rejected not only by the Venezuelan people. The head of state has received solidarity from nations such as Bolivia, Cuba, Colombia, Iran, and Honduras, whose governments have reiterated their support for President Nicolás Maduro and their unconditional respect for the self-determination of peoples.
In that sense, Delcy Rodríguez reminded the US that: “Venezuela is not alone and will continue its course in defense of the right to a future!”
Honduras
Also on Friday, on behalf of President Maduro and the Venezuelan people, Foreign Minister Yván Gil expressed his “most sincere gratitude to the Honduran government for its categorical rejection of the unfounded accusations against our country.”
Minister Gil emphasized that “their solidarity and respect for self-determination and international law are a testament to the strong ties that unite our nations.”
The same day, Honduran President Xiomara Castro said that “the State of Honduras categorically rejects the accusations made against President Nicolás Maduro and expresses its full solidarity with the people of Venezuela and their president in the face of the unfounded attacks they are currently subjected to. We reaffirm our unconditional respect for the self-determination of peoples and for international law.”
