Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Yván Gil Reaffirms Support for Palestine, Defends Latin American Sovereignty
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil reaffirmed the nation’s support for Palestine and for the sovereignty of Latin America and the Caribbean amid US-Zionist aggression.
“Venezuela maintains its firm support for Palestine and for the cause of liberation and sovereignty throughout Latin America,” he said at a solidarity event in New York, USA, on Thursday, September 25.
The event was organized by several US-based progressive organizations, including the Network for Action Against War, the Alberto Lovera Bolivarian Circle, Solidarity with Venezuela, the American-Palestinian Community Network, the National United Anti-War Coalition, Bronx Against War, the SanctionsKill Campaign, the December 12th Movement, Cuba SĂ, the International Action Center, the Venceremos Brigade, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Americas Without Sanctions, the US Peace Council, and the Workers World Party. The gathering responded to growing US hostilities toward Venezuela, particularly amid the US naval deployment in Caribbean waters.
It was held at the iconic Riverside Church — a venue that has hosted leaders such as Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castro, and Martin Luther King Jr.
“We had the honor of participating in a prominent event in defense of peace, alongside the president of the SimĂłn BolĂvar Institute, Blanca Eekhout, and solidarity movements for Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Palestine in New York,” the Venezuelan foreign minister wrote on social media.
“We highlighted the historical resistance and the truth of the Venezuelan people in the context of imperialist attacks, military escalations, and fabricated media narratives that threaten the stability of the entire Caribbean region.”
In his address, Gil emphasized Venezuela’s support for “the liberation of the Palestinian people, which represents the liberation of all the peoples of the world.”
He also conveyed to the global community “President Nicolás Maduro’s deep gratitude for the constant international solidarity with the Venezuelan people, their legitimate cause, the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, and our efforts for sovereignty, integration, and a multipolar world.”
