In his televised speech on Tuesday, the leader of Yemen’s Ansarallah movement, Seyed Abdulmalik Badreddin Al-Houthi, emphasized that âthe recent withdrawal of US Marines from Sanaâa has been a great blessing from God, a monumental victory, and an important achievement for the Yemeni people.â He also expressed his gratitude to God for granting the Yemeni nation this âgreat triumph.â
“The withdrawal of the US Marines from Sanaâa,” said the leader of Ansarallah, “has been one of the great achievements of the September 21 Revolution.â He added that this event represents âthe failure of the American project to exert total domination over our country and all the consequences that this entails.â
Referring to foreign influence, Al-Houthi stressed that âthe dignity of a believing people cannot coexist alongside American domination and its interference in all their affairs.â In this regard, he added that âliberation from US control preserves the human dignity of our beloved people, their freedom, their independence, and their honor, which is rooted in faith.â
The Yemeni leader also highlighted that âno people in the world can consider itself free as long as the United States exerts control over all its affairs.â He insisted that the withdrawal of US forces from Sanaâa is a fundamental step towards the countryâs self-determination and the preservation of its identity.
Al-Houthi has called on the Yemeni nation to uphold the religious, ethical, and human values ââthat define it, asserting that âit is unworthy of our beloved people to have a group of American criminals in Sana’a, representing disbelief, criminality, hatred, depravity, and corruption.â
Denounces US intentions to control Yemen
Al-Houthi warned about US ambitions in Yemen, stating that the American presence in the country has been an attempt to exert total domination over its resources and sovereignty.
He has also pointed to evidence of US efforts to control Yemen, citing statements by former President Donald Trump as proof of US greedânot only in Islamic countries but in other regions of the world.
The Yemeni leader stated that “the United States has an insatiable desire to seize countries, always seeking to take the largest share of their wealth and interests.” He also said that “the true strategy of the United States is based on domination driven by greed and hatred, using any method or plan to achieve this goal.”
Al-Houthi criticized those who consider the United States as a reliable partner for progress, stating that “those who see the Americans as benefactors and allies f0r achieving interests and gains are mistaken and have a naive and misguided view.”
The Ansarallah leader emphasized that âworking to free our country from American control has been an absolute necessity in every respect.â He denounced that âthe United States has sought to impose absolute dominance over Yemen for its own benefit, resulting in total harm and losses for our beloved people.â
He also stated that âif the American presence in Sanaâa had continued, its bases would have expanded to all strategic points in Yemenâ and stressed that âthe United States worked to weaken our country’s military strength while reinforcing its own control through military bases.â
On February 11, 2015, US Marines handed over their remaining weapons to Yemenis at the airport in the capital, Sanaâa, before boarding a commercial flight to leave the country following the closure of the US embassy, ââaccording to the Pentagon.
The Pentagon stated at the time that the Marines destroyed heavy weapons from the embassy’s arsenal, including machine guns, before heading to the airport. However, they remained armed with smaller weapons until the end to ensure a safe exit from Yemen.
