The vice president of Venezuela, Delcy RodrĂguez, reported on the program Maduro Live De Repente, hosted by President Nicolás Maduro, that e-commerce during the Christmas season doubled in Venezuela compared to the same period last year.
RodrĂguez explained on Thursday, December 26, that e-commerce grew by 97% between December 20 and December 24 of this year, compared to the same period in 2023. During this time, shopping centers sales grew by 81% and purchases in supermarkets increased by 35%.
She added that 232 million transactions were recorded during this period, which establishes a record of operations in the sales sector.
In this regard, President Nicolás Maduro reflected on the sustained growth of the Venezuelan economy as a result of the government’s economic plan.
“These last three months of the year have been impressive, especially the economic growth in the last few days. We must strengthen the domestic market with national production, there is a lot of money circulating, people are satisfying their many needs,” said the president.
“The growth prospects for the 2025-2030 term is enormous, because the Venezuelan economy has to be based on national production, so that Venezuela can be 100% self-sufficient,” he added.

“Venezuela’s economic recovery is a miracle because we have a strategic plan,” he continued. “We are going to have impressive growth in the real economy … we have to end the dependency of the Venezuelan economy on oil revenues. Some will say that we are crazy, and yes, we are crazy to see Venezuela prosperous.”
Vice President RodrĂguez highlighted the sustained economic growth in the last 14 consecutive quarters, a period in which there has been “great national unity. Having economic peace is having political peace … defeating extremism has been a very positive result this year.”
“Here are the results. You said that 2024 was going to be better and you have kept your promise, 2025 is going to be better and that is how it will be,” RodrĂguez commented about President Maduro’s projections for the Venezuelan economy.
