This tragic event, which has shocked the country, is described by González as one of the darkest episodes in Ecuador’s recent history, pointing to the complicity and neglect of those in power.
González, in a message full of emotion, sympathizes with the families of the victims, saying that “no one should face such indescribable pain.” The president points out that these children’s lives were taken away in an atrocious way and that the whole country is mourning their loss.

In a call to action, González assures that she will not allow this crime to go unpunished. She has urged her caucus and the relevant authorities to launch thorough investigations to clarify the facts and bring those responsible to justice. “We will not rest until the truth comes out and justice is done,” she emphasizes.
She also directly holds accountable the authorities who have allowed such tragedies to occur and demands the immediate resignation of “those who tried to justify the unjustifiable and criminalize the victims.” González demands concrete answers and a real commitment to prevent such crimes from happening again in the future.
